A first of its kind course has been created in partnership between NC State University, U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s Office of Regulatory Affairs and NASDA. This course will provide students a deep understanding of regulatory food procedures and practical applications in state and federal government regulatory food inspections and enforcement and will discuss career opportunities in this field of work.
Introduction to Public Health Food Inspections is projected to launch Fall 2024, based on NC State registration requirements. This is a timely and relevant opportunity for students exploring state and federal careers in public health. Completion of the course provides students with both college credit and a certificate of completion to enhance their resumes, in addition to offering a potential pathway for equivalency testing for specific topics if hired into federal service.
As the world of manufacturing and distribution becomes increasingly complex, stakeholders must continuously modernize and improve inspectional capacity. This innovative course provides a new pathway to building a skilled inspectorate workforce that can safeguard everyone in the U.S. and the products they consume. This course, which is intended to be replicated at other educational institutions across the country, exemplifies the value of leveraging partnerships to deliver benefits for the American people.
