Letter

Dear Representative:

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture urges Congress to pass H.R. 10445, the “Further Continuing Appropriations and Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2025.”

America’s farmers and ranchers are facing an increasingly perilous agricultural economy. Real incomes are being throttled by persistently high input costs and depressed commodity prices while opportunities to invest in the future are hampered by prohibitive interest rates. Extreme natural disasters and global supply chain disruptions have further compounded the economic stress faced by America’s producers of food, fuel, fiber, and shelter.

NASDA encourages Congress to act swiftly in passing the continuing resolution and deliver on its critical economic and disaster assistance for America’s farmers and ranchers. These measures of support, which include the extension of the current Farm Bill, are an important first step in restoring hope for security and prosperity in beleaguered rural America.

NASDA appreciates the urgency with which congressional leadership and many other members of Congress acted this week to ensure America’s farmers, ranchers, and communities across the country were not left behind in this continuing resolution.

NASDA looks forward to working with the incoming 119th Congress to expeditiously pass a new Farm Bill. Only an updated and modernized Farm Bill can provide economic certainty and predictability for farmers and ranchers of all sizes, rural communities, Americans on nutrition assistance programs, and all who benefit from the safest and most abundant food supply in the world.

Sincerely,
Ted McKinney
Chief Executive Officer
